Care workers play a critical role in communities. They represent 23% of the global workforce, and nearly one in six workers worldwide are care workers.
Care work is essential for the functioning of our communities and economies. However, it is marked by racial and gender inequalities, low wages, precarious working conditions, and a lack of social protection. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed and exacerbated these vulnerabilities, while also highlighting the indispensable role of care workers.
Tarangini Foundation stands in solidarity with the International Day of Care and Support. We call for investment in the care economy, the formalization of care work, and the protection of care workers' rights.
A society that truly values care is a society that values women, families, and communities. We join the global movement demanding that care be placed at the center of economic and social policy.
