Policy Brief on Women Domestic Workers in Nepal

Women in domestic work sustain the foundations of our lives yet continue to remain legally invisible and socially unvalued. Drawing from the lived realities of domestic workers and feminist legal analysis, this policy brief examines the structural and legal exclusions that deny these workers recognition, protection, and justice in the context of Nepal.

Published on the occasion of International Domestic Workers Day 2025, this brief by Tarangini Foundation calls for urgent legal and policy reform: ratification of ILO Conventions 189 and 190, amendments to the Labor Act and Muluki Civil Code as well as other sectorial laws, social protection guarantees, and an end to the caste, class, and gender-based discrimination that sustain their invisibility.
